OUT OF THE COLD
It snows harder as Drosselmeir jumps into his sleigh and
flees the Land of Sweets.
DROSSELMEIR
CLARA!
NARRATOR
But, at the last moment, the Mouse Prince and his three
cronies jump on the runners of Drosselmeir's sleigh and
sneak a ride.
The scene changes to a snow-clad village where party
guests arrive at the Stahlbaum house.
GUESTS
OUT OF THE NIGHT, COMING OUT OF THE COLD.
OUT OF THE ICE, COMING OUT OF THE SNOW.
DOWN FROM THE HILLS, COMING INTO THE TOWN.
DOWN FROM THE SQUARE, GREETING ALL OF OUR KIN.
NARRATOR
From her window upstairs, Clara Stahlbaum watches an
invasion of a different sort, as eligible bachelors
arrive for her coming out party.
