sporting events and the ship was always open to visitors. Newcastle's personnel also raised in excess of $200,000 over that period for the ship's charity - the Hunter Orthopaedic School (now known as the Newcastle Senior School). In June, Newcastle made her farewell visit to the City of Newcastle and conducted a final Freedom of Entry to the city.
