The cover photo of the “New Cockshutt Bridge”
reflects a number of important aspects of 2020
being a member of the Chamber of Commerce
Brantford-Brant. The bridge was built in 1932-
1933 by RC Huffman Construction Company.

the Chamber between Ignatius in 1866 and Gordon in 1938. The
bridge spans the Grand River at the southern boundary between
the City of Brantford and County of Brant. It facilitates modern
vehicle traffic (a key part of today’s economy) over the river,
which was once an essential economic driver for industry, but
now serves as a key tourism driver.
The history of the Chamber as being a “bridge” between
business and community, between the County and the City, with
a priority on transportation, the Grand River, and improving
the quality of life in our community through partnership is
an essential part of the Chamber’s success over the past 153
years, and an image to focus on as we strengthen our existing
partnerships and forge new ones to ensure Brantford-Brant is
the best possible place to do business.
