ROYAL DARWIN SHOW
 25-27 July 2019 Celebrating 68 Years
Celebrating 68 years as the Territory’s oldest and largest community event,
the Royal Darwin Show is an iconic family event which offers a diverse mix of tradition, entertainment and education for all show goers, young and young at heart.
The ever popular Royal Darwin Show is expected to again attract more than 50,000 visitors to the Darwin Showgrounds over three days, from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 July this year.
Although the heritage of the Darwin Show can be tracked back further to 1905 when the Northern Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society held its exhibition in the old Town Hall, it wasn’t until the success of the Darwin Exhibition in 1951 that
the organising committee set about making this an annual event. In 1963, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was presented with a bouquet during the opening ceremony and the Royal Darwin Show was born.
Each year visitors come far and wide to view 1000s of exhibits, displays and performances, and celebrate the diverse talent, local produce, plants and animals, arts,
cultures and everything that makes the Territory great.
The Show also provides an opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of sideshow alley, the thrilling rides and show bags and a wide selection of foods including the traditional Dagwood dog and fairy floss.
Royal Darwin Show CEO Cherry Court says the Show couldn’t go on without the amazing support of 1000s of volunteers and strong ongoing community participation.
This dynamic team comprising generations of show families, sponsors, stewards, council members, honorary life members, non-profit organisations and clubs and exhibitors are the true essence of cooperation, dedication and community spirit.
Royal Darwin Show is proud to showcase Indigenous culture, featuring Aboriginal activities such as
