Policy 223: Reporting Violation of Law to Your Supervisor

  Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale serves children and the community; therefore, we must take reasonable precaution to assure that the children are under the care of qualified staff. It is imperative that we provide an environment that is safe mentally, emotionally, and physically for youth, family, volunteers, and staff. Employees are therefore required to report any violation of law to their supervisor and HR within 24 hours of allegation of violation.

     PROCEDURAL STEPS:
Violation/Accusation of Law Violation
 Law violation is serious and should not be discussed with any parties not
 involved with the matter. Strict confidentiality is expected when handling
 such matters.
 Within 24 hours of occurrence, employee must notify supervisor of
 accusation of violation. Supervisor will inform COO & Human Resources of
 incident and details. Unless instructed otherwise, employee is to return to
 work for next scheduled shift. Staff may be placed on administrative leave
 until matter is resolved.
 It is the employee’s responsibility to inform Human Resources of updates,
 charges, or penalties imposed related to law violation/accusation of law
 violation.
 Human Resources will inform employee and supervisor of any leave or
 status changes needed related to legal action.
 In the case of moving violations, driving restrictions may impact the
 employee’s ability to operate Club owned vehicles. Employees must
 maintain clear driving records to be eligible to drive Club owned vehicles.
 Workplace Violations
Safety is priority #1 at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. Supervisors, Directors, Managers, staff in charge of an event, etc. are all representatives of management. As such, if any member, employee, volunteer or contract employee reports harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, abuse or threats of any sort you must report this to your supervisor immediately.
You cannot agree to “not tell anyone” or “keep it a secret;” you have an obligation to report. The Club and you can be held personally liable for failure to do so. If you have any questions regarding whether what you have heard constitutes harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, abuse or
