CONCLUSION

The municipality Hontianske Moravce is spread in the south-eastern part of Ipelian hilly country,
30 km southerly of Krupina on the wide meadow by counfluence of the Veper, Lišov and Trsťany brook.
In the centre of a former municipality of Kostolné Moravce at the elevated place (159 m a.s.) there is
situated evangelical church from 1883, built at the place of an old one, aforementioned in 1332.
There is architecturally integrated a new building of senior house, which has been built next to it.
Sotherly, in the adjacent part of the church there is situated a castle, uilt in 1868. At present there is
health service centre in here (general practitioner, dentist and pharmacy). Around the castle there is
speared a small park and below the park there is a municipality hall office. Easterly of the castle there is
a primary school. Another important facility is cultural house providing a place for a chapel of Roman-
catholic Church, Orthodoxy Church and library. The others are: a post office, shops, pubs, Hairdresser´s,
Agriculture cooperative, Pheasant farm and other private enterprises dealing in road transport as well.
There are only a few rural houses typical for this part of Hont region.
The area of the village has been deforested, only on the hillsides or in the trenches there are acacia
and oak woods. In the western part of a former municipality Opatove Moravce there are larger affor-
ested areas. A beautiful nature in the western part with winecellars excavated into the rock above the
Mačkáš area has not just yet been discovered by tourists. On the hilly country there are rich brown-earth
                        soils.
For the municipality of Hontianske Moravce is typical warm climate. The average year temperature is
                        about + 9,2° C.
The average rainfall are about 550 mm. Water vapour is raining 400 – 500 mm, therefore the village
belongs to benign climate. The village area is rich in wilds.
Natural conditions in southern part of Hont region where is the village situated incline this area for-
wards agrarian land form. There are good conditions for cultivation of agricultural crops, viticulture, fruit-
                        growing and beekeeping.
By archelogical finds, the village area has been settled in the Stone Age (4500 – 4000 B.C.). The
name of the municipality Moravce suggests that it has been found about year 833 as one of the official
settlements established by Mojmír I. after forcible annexion of Pribina principality to Moravia principal-
                        ity.
As one of the oldest regions of this part of Hont region, the first mention dates from 1135. During
further years, ancestral Moravce had been divided into Opatové Moravce – it was till 19th century in
the ownership of Cisterian monastery in Piliš and Kostolné Moravce, it was ownership of the nobility
families of Maróthy, Zmeškal, Bartakovic and Triangi. In 1960 both parts have been united again into
the one village called Hontianske Moravce.
The village, of which inhabitans have been likely to embrace Christianity in the Velkomoravia empire,
was after reformation in the first half of 16th century to the end of 19 th century ostly evangelical, at
present is mostly Roman-catholic. Apart from these both Churches there is also orthodoxy Church in the
                        village.
