Dear Mrs. Workman:
Your Medicare evaluation is enclosed. Please check the information on the client data sheet on
page 5 to make sure it is correct. Because your coverage will start February 1, you should enroll
in your supplemental coverage no later than the second week of January. That way, you will
have your enrollment cards before February 1.
Also, you should have (or soon have) your Medicare enrollment card indicating that your Part A
and Part B coverage will be effective 2-1-2018 (if you haven’t already done so, you can call 800-
772-1213 to enroll in Part A and Part B).
After you’ve decided on the coverage you want, you can enroll in one of the following ways:
If you decide to enroll in an Advantage plan, you can either call 800-MEDICARE
to enroll or you can call the plan’s toll-free number, shown on pages 3-4 of your
evaluation.
If you decide to get a Medigap policy and a Part D stand-alone plan, you can
enroll in the Part D plan by calling 800-MEDICARE or by calling the plan’s toll-free
enrollment number, shown on page 4 of your evaluation. Before getting a
Medigap policy, it’s a good idea to call a minimum of three insurance companies
for quotes before deciding which company you will buy from. The companies’
phone numbers are shown in Appendix A1.
Also, you may need new prescriptions from your doctor(s) in whatever plan you choose. But
first ask if your current prescriptions can be transferred to your new plan.
You indicated in your questionnaire that you would like to see comparisons of Advantage plans
and Medigap policies. Your evaluation compares two Medigap plans (F and L) and two
Medicare Advantage HMO plans.
Medigap policies
It might help to review some features that all Medigap policies share (you may already be
aware of these). Medigap policies can be purchased during the first six months you have Part A
