Still large blocks of Christians continued to cast their

votes to help elect Lyndon Johnson as President. In short
order, he enacted his “Great Society” program (as
discussed in greater detail in Chapter 6). That program

was designed to help poor families escape the bonds of
poverty. While it appeared to be an exceptionally

compassionate program, it actually proved to be a
significant contributor to the decimation of GOD’s

sacred mother-father structure of families. Its rules
penalized the amount of financial support allowed for

two-parent households. At the same time, it rewarded
multiple births out of wedlock. Thus, it produced an

exceptionally harmful side-effect that greatly increased
the number of single parent households. Rather than

stop poverty, the “Great Society” merely stalled it. As a
result, it increased crime; that outcome further wrecked
many families and greatly increased their misery. These

troubling effects were especially prevalent in the inner-
cities among black families. Unfortunately, this added to

the flames of “racial strife” and a sense of economic
inequality. This is a prime example of how secular

solutions applied to spiritual problems yields unintended
consequences. There is a better way.

Loving GOD’s people – GOD demands that HIS people
must always uphold justice and mercy for the oppressed

(Micah 6:8), while humbly supporting and uplifting the
