Accidental Damage – Wine
3. Sweet Reserves
3.1 the sulphur dioxide (SO2) level may not be less than 120mg/l. The adding of SO2 must take place according
to the standard winemaking practice of thorough mixing of the contents in the tank
3.2 Sweet Must Reserves may only be stored in stainless steel tanks with 316 stainless steel domes
3.3 such storage tanks must at all times be filled to at least the level below the column of the upper part of manhole of the wine tank
3.4 sensory tests are to be conducted twice a week on all storage tanks and a laboratory chemical analysis is to be conducted once or twice per month. If necessary the tank must be filtrated immediately. Records of all such tests must be kept and submitted to the Company if so required.
4. Concentrate
4.1 the sulphur dioxide (SO2) level may not be less than 100mg/l. The adding of SO2 must take place through
the in-line drenching method during filling of the wine tank.
4.2 Concentrate may only be stored in stainless steel tanks with 316 stainless steel domes, fiberglass tanks, concrete and or mild steel tanks coated on the inside
4.3 such storage tanks must at all time be filled to at least the level below the column of the upper part of the manhole of the wine tank. A nitrogen drencher must be installed so that a daily dosage of nitrogen can be applied on top of the concentrate to prevent condensation and fermentation
4.4 sensory tests are to be conducted weekly on all storage tanks and a laboratory chemical analysis is to be conducted once or twice monthly. If necessary the tank must be filtrated immediately. Records of all such tests must be kept and submitted to the Company if so required
4.5 crystallization and or fermentation tests are to be conducted once every second week on all storage tanks and samples must be taken from the bottom of the tank, the middle of the tank and the upper part of the tank. Records of all such tests must be kept and submitted to the Company if so required
4.6 the evaporation of Concentrate must immediately take place in case of desulphurization of sulphurated Sweet Must.
5. Disposal of Wine
disposal as a result of a health hazard or on instruction of the Government or Public or Local Authority or institution
with the Company’s prior consent.
6. Cover is provided on a First Loss Sum Insured applicable to the items as stated in the Schedule in respect of the Insured Property definition below:
INSURED PROPERTY
On stock of wine and related products, bottled wine and wine in tap wine casks in boxes the property of the Insured and/or kept in trust and/or on commission and/or for which the Insured is liable.
VALUATION
The extent of loss or damage with regard to wine and related products claims will be determined as follows:
Wine and related products
1. fixed value(s) per specific type/variety of wines as determined by the Insured and contained in an existing written sales agreement of which proof must be submitted to the Company if so required;
PROVIDED THAT:
bottled wine will include the cost of bottling and, where applicable, the cost of labelling and all relevant costs.
2. in the absence of any existing written sales agreement prices:
2.1 shall be in force as compiled and made available on a regular basis by SAWIS. The said prices are based on information supplied by the wine industry in respect of actual bulk sales contained within a framework of prices based on the quality applicable to specific type/variety of wines
