DEFINED EVENTS
LIVESTOCK & PEDIGREE ANIMALS
The Company will indemnity the insured for losses against the following contingencies resulting in the death or destruction of livestock (including pedigree animals) described in the schedule directly caused by either:
Livestock & Pedigree Animals
Sub-Section A
Sub-Section B
Sub-Section C
Sub-Section D
death during the period of insurance of any livestock (including pedigree animals) specified in the Schedule (or for insurance for an annual period only in the event
of death of such livestock (pedigree animals) occurring within 30 (thirty) days
after the expiry of this insurance as a result of any accident occurring, or illness or disease manifesting itself during the currency hereof, as stated in the Schedule and subject to written notice of such accident, illness or disease having been given to the Company before expiry of this insurance) for the actual value of such livestock (including pedigree animals) at the time of the accident (or manifesting of illness or disease) causing it’s death
fire, lightning excluding whilst in transit
fire, lightning including whilst in transit resulting from the insured perils of fire, collision, explosion or the overturning of the means of conveyance and theft following the aforementioned occurrences whilst in transit
fire, lightning or violent accident (excluding storm, wind, water, hail or snow but included whilst in transit) or euthanasia which is administered on the authority of a qualified veterinary surgeon as a result of injuries caused by the insured perils
PROVIDED THAT:
1. First Amount Payable
the Insured shall be responsible for the first amount payable stated in the Schedule in respect of each and every defined event;
2. Limit of liability
1. Insured item (s):
the liability of the Company for all loss or damage arising from any one Defined Event shall not exceed the limit of indemnity stated in the Schedule;
2. Transit cover:
2.1 the Company shall indemnity the insured up to R100 000 (one hundred thousand rand) per event, or R200 000 (two hundred thousand rand) in the aggregate any one period of insurance, for the death of the insured animals, directly caused by fire, lightning, flood, collision and overturning of the conveyance including loading and unloading of the cargo;
2.2 the Insured shall be responsible for the first R2 500 (two thousand five hundred rand) each and every claim.
3. Clearing up and removal of debris costs (Applicable to Transit cover only)
the insurance under this Section includes costs necessarily incurred by the Insured in respect of the clearing up and removal of debris following damage to the means of conveyance or to the property thereon, subject to the maximum amount of R10 000 (ten thousand rand) in respect of any one Defined Event.
DEFINITION OF VIOLENT ACCIDENT:
The term “violent accident” shall mean:
Any injury that the insured animal may contract as a result of any fortuitous unexpected event occurring at an identifiable place and time following which a qualified veterinary surgeon certifies that the suffering of such animals is incurable and so extensive that immediate destruction is imperative for humane reasons.
