Beware of iden ty the
If someone should steal the details of your personal iden ty – for example, your ID number and address – they would be able to pass themselves o as you. They would then be able to enter into contractual arrangements in your name, access con den al informa on and even obtain credit.
Paying out a er a claim
Report all claims to us immediately
All claims must be reported to us immediately and we will instruct our preferred a orneys to assist you, or we may reject your claim.
Legal costs
For any claim where you require us to pay your legal costs, the amount paid out will be based on the tari s of our preferred a orneys, up to the limit speci ed in the Schedule.
During any 12-month period, we will not pay more than the limit, even if you should have more than one successful claim.
Please feel free to request a copy of our a orneys’ tari s which will be adjusted to cater for increases over me.
You always pay the rst amount, or excess
You will always have to pay the rst part of any claim se lement. This is known as the excess, and is listed in the excess Schedule.
Example
If you successfully claim R2 000 to defend yourself in a criminal case, and the excess for that claim is R250, your net pay-out from us will be R1 750.
