Language changeOver long periods, language change can accumulateto the point where a language becomesunrecognizable compared to its earlier form. Forexample, modern English has significantly divergedfrom Old English in grammar, vocabulary, andpronunciation, yet it is still considered a descendantof Old English. Similarly, languages that share acommon origin, like the Romance languages aregrouped into language families and are considered\ related.
