In 2006, Frederick seized the opportunity to start a restaurant. He and his wife Kim were dining in a local bistro one night and he got to talking with the chef; he learned that the restaurant would be closed and sold in a month or so. He and Kim discussed it over dinner, and she encouraged him. He bought
the restaurant and plunged into researching how to run a business. Determined to select the right name for his new Italian restaurant, he bounced his running list of ideas off of people he knew; through his research, he had learned that Lucca
is a little village in Tuscany that is known for producing excellent food. “Lucca’s” it was, and Frederick is delighted when his restaurant guests travel to Lucca in Italy and send him postcards or bring back trinkets to share. In April 2010 Lucca’s moved into its current location on the Walking Mall in downtown Helena. Frederick credits his staff, including his chef and maitre d’, who have each worked with him for more than ten years, for the restaurant’s success. He has perpetuated a culture of excellence that he describes as internally motivated –
there is a good deal of introspection, always striving to do things better and be the best that they can be. He is proud of his staff’s longevity and commitment to excellence.
Frederick and Kim are the parents of two boys, Kelton and Rylan. Kim is a teacher, and is currently running the restaurant while Frederick,
who retired from the Helena
Fire Department in June, is in the process of relocating to Victorville, California, where he was offered
the opportunity to build a new re department; eventually his family will join him there.
for nearly a decade. The two met
in Utah, where each of them was working at the time, and married
in 2003. After a few years, Kevin nally convinced Angela to give up her airline career in favor of a life raising a family back in Montana. Today, they are parents of three boys who, together, enjoy snowmobiling, skiing, football, soccer and lacrosse.
The Terry’s acknowledge and appreciate Helena’s support for local radio; they observe that it is still very personal and local. As owners of The Montana Radio Company, currently with nine stations and nearly 30 employees, they are committed
to maintaining a strong focus on Helena and being a voice to reach the community, as we all bene t from a strong community with local businesses that are thriving. Their awareness of the threat that large online retailers pose to small local economies such as ours serves to reinforce this commitment. Angela and Kevin are also proud to have contributed in a number of ways
to the Montana Suicide Prevention Campaign, a statewide multi-media educational effort that launched in April 2017. Through Public Service Announcements and donated marketing time, they support scores of local nonpro t organizations
each day.
MONTANA RADIO COMPANY | KEVIN AND ANGELA TERRY
Kevin and Angela Terry founded The Montana Radio Company in August of 2009 with the goal of
on Sports 94.9, Rock 96.3, and 104.5 Dave FM, and, eventually, purchased 105.3 KMTX, Z-101, News Radio 95 KCAP, and KBLL 99.5 The Bull.
Kevin had his radio debut at
age fourteen, when he was given
his rst opportunity on the air; he was thrust unexpectedly onto the airwaves during a local event, when the scheduled announcer was called away to x a transmitter issue. Kevin grew up in a small town in Wyoming with a local radio station, and with fondness, he remembers that he always loved the magic
of radio. Throughout high school and as an undergraduate at Drake University, Kevin worked on the
fun side of the business “on the
air.” After college, Kevin moved
to Montana where he focused
on the technical development
and management of stations. He was unexpectedly transferred
from Montana to Salt Lake City
in 2000 to work on mountain top communications projects in advance of the 2002 Olympics.
Angela grew up in Houston, Texas. She pursued her education for a career, not in radio, but in aviation at University of Texas, then Embry Riddle University. At the age of 21, Angela became the youngest female pilot in the history of SkyWest Airlines and ew passenger jets

the Helena market. By the end of 2011, they had received their FCC licenses and built modest facilities for their rst two stations – 107.3 The Mighty Mo and Mix 102.3. In the years following, the Terry’s signed
