Is a Reverse Mortgage Right For You? Reverse Mortgage: It’s a unique loan that allows homeowner(s) 62 years of age and older to draw on the value of their home, which is paid to the homeowner(s) in a variety of payout options or used as a line of credit. Repayment is not required until the homeowner(s) no longer reside in the residence. Homeowners are obligated to maintain their home, pay their property taxes, homeowners insurance, and any HOA dues. Misconceptions: There are many misconceptions about reverse mortgages that sometimes lead people away from considering one. The most common Myth is that you sign over ownership to your home. This is simply not true. The Fact is that you retain full ownership just like any other mortgage loan. Wealth Management Clients: Many nancial advisors and their senior clients are not aware of the powerful strategies of using home equity in coordination with invested assets. The timing of disbursements is key. Using well researched and proven data, nancial advisors can extend the longevity of assets, increase cash ow, reduce risk, and increase net worth for their clients. Not reviewing this option can be extremely costly, not only for the client, but for the advisor and their assets under management.
