Local area updates Waco
2018 has been another good year for the pilot location of Baylor Scott & White’s Faith Community Health – Waco, Texas. Over
the course of this year, we have continued our partnership
with the Waco Regional Baptist Association and continued to strengthen the church health ministries within our partnered faith communities. We also expanded our volunteer opportunity with Baylor University students, by expanding into two more student organizations for volunteer opportunities. We look forward to 2019 in Waco as a year of continued growth. We are hoping to continue to expand our community partnerships, our faith community partnerships, and our impact on individuals throughout our city. Our goal for the Waco area is to increase church health ministries in existing partnerships and increase patient referrals by 50%.
College Station
Faith Community Health is continuing to grow in College Station. In 2018, we were able to establish roots within the community and left the year with several faith community relationships. Our focus for 2018 was to get the name, purpose, and mission statement
of FCH known within both Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - College Station and the community.
In this upcoming year, we intend to nurture the relationships we formed in 2018 and establish solidified partnerships within the community. Baylor Scott & White attended a graduate public health student intern fair and has received several applications for internships in Dallas, College Station, and Brenham for summer 2019. Our hope is to engage more faith communities, train more FCH caregivers, and establish a steady source of referrals from health professionals. We would also like to engage with more faith- based organizations on the Texas A&M campus to recruit more student caregivers. The Bryan/College Station area is one that is in need of FCH, and we are excited to see what this year holds!
Marble Falls
Marble Falls is one of our areas to begin Faith Community Health during 2019! We have identified a Connector who will help us establish faith communities and Faith Community Caregivers within the area. We are excited to see what 2019 brings for Marble Falls!
