doing so, the ASEAN economy will recover, in accordance with
the ideals of the ASEAN Economy Community (MEA),” deputy

He made the remarks after attending the second plenary of the
41st AIPA session and the closing of the online session. At the
session, a wide range of issues that have become the center of
attention of ASEAN member states were discussed, including
the handling of COVID-19 and tensions in the South China Sea.

He said delegations from ASEAN member states have agreed to
create peace, ease tensions, and take multilateral cooperation
steps to uphold international laws, including the United Nations
Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

“We hope all parties involved in the South China Sea conflict
give priority to multilateral approaches to find the best solution
for the sake of creating a peaceful, secure, stable, and prosperous
ASEAN centrality,” he said.

The meeting also adopted various resolutions in the economic,
social, organizational, women and young parliamentarian
fields.

Syamsudin said he hoped all the resolutions could be
implemented in each of the AIPA member states to build a better
ASEAN and uphold ASEAN centrality, as part of efforts to create
an inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
