On March 13 and 14, Upper School students performed Mamma Mia. With its picturesque Greek
background and vibrant costumes, this was one of the best plays Carrollton has produced.
Mrs. Rodriguez, director, said, "One of my main goals for the actresses was for them to understand and
learn the commitment that it takes to produce excellent theater."
Andrea Dominguez who played Donna, an independent hotelier in the Greek islands and mother of
Sophie, delivered a brilliant performance and her singing was extraordinary.
Sophie, played by Ava Cefalo, shared some insights. Like many of the actresses in the play, Ava believes
that she grew from the experience because every time she prepared for the role, she put her heart and
soul into it - to be the most accurate representation of the character. "The cast was able to bond over the
energetic and enthusiastic environment each song provided... The long hours and days of rehearsing for the
play were what ultimately allowed us to truly get to know each other.
The cast mentally prepared for the performance by praying. Ava states, "It really allowed all the actresses
to get into a calm mindset. For any aspiring actresses, Ava recommends, "once you get a role in a play,
practice the lines of one scene every single night."
