The Primary School is recognized for its participation in the Fairchild Challenge
This year Primary students participated in the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Challenge. The
challenges focused on Florida's native habitats, gardening in space, and creating an eco-atlas about
the plants at our school.
First Grade students created their own brochure cover about South Florida s unique ecosystems and
illustrated their own space gardens. The Second Grade took part in designing gardens on spaceships
to serve the needs of astronauts. The Third Grade made observations about the plants on our campus
and recorded their data in a collective eco-atlas. They also constructed brochure
panels highlighting animals, plants, and natural features in a chosen ecosystem of
South Florida.
Third Grade's eco-atlas received a special award for, "engaging narrative." Third
Grade student, Monica Rodriguez and Montessori teacher, Barbara Clarke were
nominated and recognized as Environmental Role Models for our school.
