Carrollton recognizes the seniors who have distinguished themselves for their
performance in the last academic year's National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSC.)
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition
and Scholarships that began in 1955, The honors awarded by NMSC to
exceptionally able students are viewed as definitive marks of excellence.
Approximately 1.6 million High School students from 22,000 high schools
participate. Semifinalists are the highest-scoring program entrants in each state and
represent the top 0.5% percent of the state's senior students, and remain in the
running to become Finalists and potential recipients of the Merit Scholarships.
Five Carrollton seniors are named National Merit Semifinalists based on their
performance on the 2016 PSAT/NMSQT. They are: Tanya Eathakotti, Maria Felix-
Padilla, Nathalie Fuentes, Isabella Luna and Margarita Sitterson.
Five seniors are named Commended students. They are: Elizabeth Bee, Gabriela
Blanco, Daniela Buitrago, Andrea Delgado and Sydney Sariol.
Nine Carrollton seniors are recognized as National Hispanic Scholars representing the top 2.5% of Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test-
takers in our region, They are: Elizabeth Bee, Gabriela Blanco, Rebeca Boudet, Andrea Delgado, Maria Feliz-Padilla, Gabriella Perez, Irina Perez
Ulivi, Sydney Sariol and Margarita Sitterson.
