Biodiversity was the theme for the Fairchild Challenge this year,
and the first activity involved performing a “BIOBLITZ." Students
in Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grades set out to count as many
species of living things they could find. The assignment was to
identify the common name, research the scientific name, find a
picture, and state the exact location of each living thing. Students
combed every square foot of the bayfront as well as the gardens
surrounding. El Jardin until each organism was identified and
reported, ft was a hands-on way to appreciate our South Florida
environment.
