This year, the Intermediate School participated in
the Fairchild Challenge for the first time. Students
submitted work for several Challenges designed
to promote environmental awareness while giving
students the opportunity to develop their academic and
creative skills. In "Accents by Nature," students created
a variety of fashion accessories out of plants. Other
Options included researching environmental changes
occurring in Florida's ecosystems, and creating original
song lyrics based on this research. Students produced
a mini-musical called, "The Coral Reef," which they
staged, costumed, and performed at both Carrollton
and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Carden.
