Let us respect childhood; let us honor the soul of that small creature of God who can already
make choices of the best if we take the time to awaken her reason and make her use her
judgment. ... I am overwhelmed with love in thinking that this is the mission of the Society
- and I have to spend my time in administration!
-Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat
Serving as Assistant Head of Curriculum for a decade, Sister Margaret Seitz joined Carrollton in July
1999. Over the years, Sister Seitz' offices have moved between the Barat and Duchesne campuses,
enabling the entire school community to benefit from regular interaction with her. While Sister Seitz is
well known for her expertise and dedication to academic excellence, it is her infectious w it and kind
disposition that endears her to us all.
Prior to Carrollton, Sister Seitz served as Teacher, Dean of Students and Headmistress at the Academy of
the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Teacher and Dean of Students at The Noroton School
in Noroton, Connecticut; Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Dean of Students and Headmistress at The
Doane Stuart School in Albany, New York; and Teacher, Director of Studies and Middle School Principal
at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In addition, Sister Seitz has served as Trustee and Educational Consultant at numerous schools and on
multiple search committees, and participated on many visiting teams for various associations including
the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and the Florida Council of Independent Schools.
In March 2010, Sister Seitz celebrated the 50th anniversary of her First Vows as a Religious of the Sacred
Heart. Members of her family joined more than 75 members of the Carrollton community in a liturgy in
Founders Library followed by a reception in the Benoist Room.
Beloved by all, Sister Seitz generously counsels students and faculty alike with warmth and wisdom.
