Intellectual Values
"Carrollton speaks to the world through its
graduates. Universally thought of as confident,
compassionate, strong women, Carrollton
alumnae are critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Our daughters have attended Carrollton because
we know Carrollton graduates." (Parent of both a
Carrollton alumna and current student)
In the Montessori, teachers explained, "We
admire the children's capacity for awe and
wonder. We are proud of our work with Coal II
and its Criteria."
How can one describe the joy of learning in our
community? The Primary faculty answered,
"There is something about this experience
that can't be captured in a lesson plan, but we
see in the children's faces their own sense of
accomplishment. Their happiness reinforces our
commitment as Sacred Heart Educators."
"While it may be that the love of learning is
innate in the person, we can see, through the
faculty's guidance, our daughters developing the
capacity to differentiate the different shades of
gray. The ability to see and reason articulates the
subtle differences in the subjects and in people
and life - this is a great gift." (Primary parent)

As stated by the Intermediate faculty, "The
classroom atmosphere in which the students
present their answers is supported, encouraged,
and individually valued. Students are rewarded
for their thought process as much as the end result
(answer). We choose curriculum with the view to
allowing true instruction; we want to guide our
students in constructing a solid foundation in the
mind by developing serious intellectual habits and
steady and coherent personal thought. Our role
as Sacred Heart Educators is not only to foster
the intellectual development in our students, but
also to foster their spiritual, emotional and social
development."
Simply stated, "Coal II pushes everyone to be
one's best self." (Junior High faculty)
The High School faculty captured this: "We feel
challenged by and inspired by Goal II. It makes it
exciting. It is challenging to keep up, given all that
Coal II calls for."
"Ultimately, we hope our students are successful
learners so that they can apply their skills
as critical thinkers to real world situations."
