When our needs are not met so well …
▪ When needs aren’t met well, stress chemicals are
released into the body.
▪ This results in a physical feeling. We may feel
hot, get a prickly feeling inside or our heart may
flutter.
▪ We call both pleasant or unpleasant feelings
‘Affect’
▪ Unless a child has strong skills to tolerate that
feeling, it can lead to a stress response (fight,
flight, freeze are the ones people talk about
most).
