Stuck on High Alert Squirrel Attention
If someone feels scared over and over again (that toxic red stress we learned
about before), it can cause our brain to stay on high alert Squirrel Attention,
even when the danger has gone.
Red: when my needs aren’t met
over and over, I go into toxic
stress. I am on high alert
This makes it really hard for the person to keep their
attention and thoughts on one thing for a long time –
that Cat Attention we need so much for work in the
classroom.
If this happens, the person needs help from adults to teach their
brain and body to become calm. They may also need help to practice Cat
Attention so their brain pathways grow strong.
