Control Centre Skills
The front part of our brain (its fancy name is the ‘pre-frontal cortex’)
has neural circuits in charge of important Thinking Skills.
This part of the brain is a bit like a ‘Control Centre’ because it keeps
everything going smoothly.
We need these Thinking Skills to learn in lessons, do homework, get on
with others and to enjoy activities outside of school.
Just like all other
skills, the neural
circuits for our
Control Centre Skills
become strong
through good
experiences and lots
of practice from the
moment we are born.
We’ll return to these
skills later in the
programme.
