The 10 Point Response Plan
A tool for responding when things go wrong. Following this approach protects the child’s self-
worth, develops trust, keeps everyone in positive positions and ensures good sustainable progress.
The response plan includes three sections:
1. Responding in the moment: calm, connect, support
2. Following up: problem solving for next time & repairing any harm
3. Building for the future: filling cups of need & building skills so that the
child can learn well and respond pro-socially in the future.
