This stage starts with the adult recapping on the main

issues for the child and the adult / others involved:

So, when …. (child’s concern/needs) AND when ….. (your concern /

needs) ….. I wonder what could happen differently so it worked for

both of us?

I wonder what could happen next time so that

you ….. (child’s needs) and I …(my needs) .. are both met?

If possible, it can be helpful to pose the question and say they don’t

need to answer yet – you’ll come back to it again tomorrow so they

have time to think it through.
