Key Messages: Coaching for Progress
If you don't follow up, you'll forever be mopping up: The same problem will
resurface time and time again if it not appropriately followed up. Make follow-up 1
part of your routine.
2 High expectations and high support are key. Be Insistent, Persistent, Consistent,
with a 'Bucketful of Kindness'!
Using a clear Coaching Sequence provides a structure for staying persistent & 3
consistent with follow-up.
Follow-up needs the patience and care of a surgeon! Use clean questions, listen
4 and make them feel supported. Invite them to problem-solve in a way that
makes them feel capable.
Some children will need Protective Measures and increased scaffolds while they fill
missing skills and needs but always help them to plan a Pathway to Independence. 5
