How the Brain Develops: Part 4
Let’s say you start a new hobby - skateboarding.
At the start, the electrical signals would be slow. It would
be hard to balance and move your body in the right way.
Your reactions may be
slower than people who
have skateboarded for
years.
You may keep falling.
If you practised again and again, the
part of your brain used for balancing
would become denser – there would
be thicker brain circuits and more of
them.
It would start to feel easier to balance
and move your body in the right way.
This is because the electrical signals
would be stronger and faster.
You will have shaped your brain for skateboarding!
