P. 11
We all have different sensory needs:
▪ Some people are under-responsive – this means they need a lot of sensory
input in order to feel good.
▪ Other people are over-responsive; this means they need a tiny amount of
sensory input before it is too much for them.
▪ The amount of sensory input we need can be different for different senses.
▪ E.g. A child may be under-responsive for proprioception and need lots of
movement and feedback on their bodies. They may find it hard to hold still.
▪ A child may be over-responsive to sound and feel overwhelmed with even a
little bit of noise.
▪ We can think of this as the size of cup each sense has before it overflows.
