5. I CAN COMPROMISE
a. I can think of ways to compromise.
b. I can compromise: I am able to give up a bit of what I would like so that everyone’s
needs are met better.
c. I can be flexible enough to follow an instruction or direction given by someone else.
I can feel a sense of control over what happens to me even when someone else is
giving the directions.
d. I can follow someone else’s way of doing something, even if it is different to the
one I felt was best.
6. I CAN BE EMOTIONALLY FLEXIBLE & LOOK AT THE WIDER PICTURE
a. When I am experiencing an unpleasant feeling such as sadness, jealousy, shame or
disappointment, I know it will not last forever and I can think of wider positive
things to help soothe myself.
b. When something is difficult or unpleasant, I can remember that this will not be
forever and there will be happier moments ahead.
c. When I am upset by something that has happened, I can take a wider perspective
by thinking of positive things in my life.
