CARBON FRAUD No laughing matter...

The UNFCCC as well as Designated
National Authorities and other agencies
have produced masses of figures and
statistics, targets, outturns and other
material on the scale of carbon emissions
and the supposed success of abatement
measures. Many are dogged by lack of
consistency, often mixing CO2 emissions
with other greenhouse gases, annual figures
with longer periodic summaries, absolute
numbers with percentages and miles with
kilometres. It sometimes seems the
confusion is deliberate.

The figures used for converting energy
consumption vary widely from 400 tonnes
of CO2 per giga-watt hour (GWh) to over
1,000 tonnes.

A wind energy consortium originally
recommended a conversion factor
of 860 tonnes of CO2 per GWh but
had later to admit a figure half this
amount. This made savings from wind
turbines half that claimed in planning
and other applications. By such
inflations promoters dupe gullible
investors and regulators.
