Alarms sounds and zones
Alarms Sounds and Zones:
A continuous alarm will sound in the zone of Fire's Point of Origin only (evacuation voice
message along with Fire Alarm, including flashers). And intermittent alert tone and
flashers alarm on the floor below and floor above.
Voice Message:
“Your attention please, your attention please. Fire has been reported in this building.
Please leave this building nearest exit. Don’t use elevators”.
Once the fire alarm is triggered, there need to investigate the reason for the alarm
(and the possibility of a false alarm) and to identify the level of the threat.
Recall that evacuation procedures are undertaken only as a final resort action for the
hospital. In the case of a fire, evacuation is performed once the preventative and
suppression measures described earlier have failed to contain the fire and lives are
under immediate threat.
A ‘Code Red’ announcement will be made over the public address system informing all
staff where the emergency is located.
