  SSLDL Teen Book Bag
First Thursday of Each Month
Each month teens will have the opportunity to register to receive an SSLDL Teen Book Bag! Teen Book Bag is a subscription style service that provides you with two new books for you to enjoy. A Teen Book Bag will contain two new library books (must be returned) selected by the youth and teen librarian, a bookmark, surprise swag, and a list of teen activities and services offered by the library (you can keep these!). Pickup for Teen Book Bags is on the first Thursday
of each month. Registration for Teen Book Bags will close a week prior to the pick-up date to give the library time to select books especially for you! The library will contact you when your bag is ready.

Want to get involved at the Library? Become a part of Salem-South Lyon District Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB). TAB is part club and part volunteer opportunity. Through this group there will be opportunities to volunteer at other library events. Teen Advisory Board members must be in grades 8-12. No limit, but please register for TAB using the google form in the Library Events Calendar

Need a quiet place to study for your exams? The Library will have dedicated individual study spaces in the Teen Area for students to prepare for exams. No registration necessary!
Practice SAT
(Grade 7-12)
Saturday, February 5
10:00 AM-3:00 PM
Michigan now
requires students
to take the SAT in order to graduate. Set yourself up for success with a SAT practice test presented by Sylvan Learning Brighton. Teens can attend this session to partake in a full length SAT practice test, free of cost. Participants must bring their own calculator and pencil, and are encouraged to bring a snack. Please arrive at 10 AM for a prompt test start time of 10:15 AM.
Lighten Up, Valentine! Valentines with LED Lights Tuesday, February 8
6:00-7:00 PM
Brighten up someone’s day by creating a unique Valentine’s Day card that lights up using LED lights and copper tape.
Individuals needing special auxiliary aids or services for access to Library programs and meetings should contact the Library at least 72 hours in advance of the event in order that appropriate arrangements can be made.
CHILDREN’S HIGHLIGHTS
Organization and Goal Setting with Bullet Journaling and Vision Boards
Thursday, January 13
6:00-7:00 PM
Start the year off right by learning how to get organized with bullet journaling and setting goals with vision boards. Teens are more than welcome to bring their own notebook to practice with or use paper provided by the library.
Teen Only Study Time

Need a place to study or do homework? The Library will have dedicated individual study spaces in the Teen Area for students to use.

Summer will be here before you know it! Start preparing for your summer job search by learning the basics of resumes and cover letters.
Altered Fashion and Decorative Mending
Tuesday, April 26
6:00-7:00 PM
Celebrate Earth Day a little late by learning how to decoratively mend your clothes by hand instead of throwing them out. Teens may bring their own clothing item to mend or practice on fabric provided by the library. Next time your favorite pair of jeans rip, you will know what to do!

April showers have brought May flowers! Celebrate spring by creating giant tissue paper flowers to give or to keep with this take home craft.
