Length = Perimeter ÷ 4
Length × Length = Area
For example,
(1) A square has a perimeter of 24 cm. Find its side length and area.
Answer
Length = Perimeter ÷ 4 = 24 ÷ 4 = 6 cm Area = 4 × 4 = 16 cm2
(2)Ahmed’s rectangular room is 8 meters long and has a
perimeter of 24 m. What is the width of the room?
Width = Half perimeter - length = 12 – 8 = 4 metres
