Energy transfer in the water cycle
Water cycle: the continuous movement of water among water reservoirs.
It provides water for all living organisms and regulate the weather.
Step in which Evaporation Matter changes from liquid to
rainwater falling is gas by heating (gaining energy)
collected in water
Water CondensationMatter changes from
bodies Cycle
gas to liquid by cooling
Collection (losing energy)
Step in which water Runoff Precipitation Water falls on earth in the
flows along the earth’s form of rain, sleet, snow or hail
surface into the river “snow pellets”
then ocean or sea
All these processes and steps depend on force and energy.
Force examples are gravity and wind, energy is thermal.
The total amount of
water on earth doesn’t
change even if its state
changes as it can be
recycled (replaced)
through the water cycle.
