The Top 10 Most Important Lessons They Don’t Teach You in School
Our most important superpower is our ability to communicate.
Your command of the English language is the most valuable
tool that you possess. People judge you by the words you
use and the conversations that you have. Once you open your
mouth, you tell people who you are. Your ability to communicate
humanizes you. Your communication skills can help you in
every facet of life.
A powerful vocabulary catapults you into the “intelligent”
category of life.
Attention is the number one currency. The ability to attract
attention starts with your ability to communicate. Communication
has become a lost art due to technology, texting, and social
media. Those who have the ability to hold the attention and
direct the attention while communicating will have a distinct
advantage in life and at work.
In the book “The Road to Your Best Stuff,” the author, Mike
Williams says, “If information could change people, everyone
would be skinny, rich, and happy.” Information is not enough.
We must take action. We must improve our communication.
Create real interactions with your communication. Learn to be a
real storyteller. People love stories. Facts tell. Stories sell.
The author and legendary poet, Khalil Gibran said that, “more
than hunger and thirst, humans need stories. Speak greatness
into people.” Good communication requires kindness; people do
not always remember kindness but they always remember
unkindness. People will forget what you said. People will forget
what you did but people will never forget how you made them
feel.
