The two men, Carlos Ortiz, 53, of 320 State Street and Reynaldo Martinez, 32, of 320 State Street, were bicycling away on two allegedly stolen bicycles when Patrolmen Robert Olden and James Tortora stopped them at Hoyt and State Streets at 5:30 a.m. The officers, responding to a call of burglary in progress, checked the bikes and found that both bikes still had the store tags on them. The store at 345 Atlantic Avenue had its gate lock broken and window panels removed to gain entry.TOOK THE CAR: A 15 year-old youth was charged with unlicensed operation, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident on July 15 about 1:30 a.m. The accused, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was allegedly driving without a license in a car that was neither registered nor insured. Police say he then struck a car at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and 1st Street, causing extensive damage, and fled on foot. He was apprehended after a short chase by 78th Precinct Police officers.DIDN%u2019T GO CAMPING: At 1:15 a.m. on July 15, Hector Castillo, 21, of 367 Fifth Avenue, was arrested by the 78th Precinct and charged with burglary, attempted grand larceny, and possession of burglary tools, after he allegedly tried to break into a 1966 Volkswagon camper, parked at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 2nd Street.ASSAULT AT SUBWAY: A young man and woman were allegedly assaulted at the Bergen Street IND stop on July 5 by four male youths and a young man at 1:35 a.m. Police said the five assailants threw the man to the ground, hitting him with a cane and then hit and injured the woman before stealing her purse and eyeglasses, making off with credits and $20 cash. Transit police apprehended the four juveniles and Michael James, 18, of 464 Columbia St., at the corner of Center Street and Columbia at 2:05 a.m. All five were booked on charges of robbery, assault, and criminal possession of stolen property.BASEMENT OH SLICK: Firemen responded to an %u201c oil burner emergency%u201d at 80 Hoyt Street on July 18 at 1:35 p.m. At the scene a spokesman for the 31st Battalion said a minor oil spill in the basement had ignited but was quickly brought under control by Ladder company 105 and Engine company 226. No one was injured.SHE WANTED IN: Flaviana Obenza, of 104-33 128th St., Queens, was arrested on July 18 after reportedly threatening the landlord of a South Carroll Gardens building and trying to break down the door. She had come to the building, at 186 Nelson St., to visit her estranged husband. According to the landlord, when he did not let her in she tried to break the door down, and threatened to stab him. The landlord called the police, and Detective Keenan of the 76th Precinct made the arrest.
