The PSCdemands that counselors andteachers only be fired for unPainter ShowsTechniqueAt last Sunday afternoon%u2019s People-to-People Program at the Brooklyn Museum, Lin-Chia Li demonstrated Chinese landscape painting in the Chinese Gallery. Mr. Li explained that, for him, the painting is on the paper before he starts and all he has to do is catch pieces of it here and there and then fill in the blanks, somewhat like a child%u2019s magic coloring book, in which a wet sponge is run over the page and the picture magically appears.Although the gallery was crowded that there wasn't much room for the artist to work Li%u2019s whole body participated in his painting. He danced with fluid motions of hands and legs. His face changed with each different brush stroke. Just by watching his face and body while he was painting, one could almost know what he had painted before his hand moved away revealing it. Thehumour and loneliness of the circushas been with the sordidness of thecity.%u201cWatercolor Fantasy,%u201d an intricate water color with thin penand ink outlines by Wanda Walker,is full of tiny bees, hands and feet,and smiling gargoyle-likecreatures. An orange sun grins outof the left hand corner and thebackground is painted in softpastels. Because of the intricacyand extreme fragility of thepainting, some of the figures arenot seen at first and seem to behiding.These art works are just a smallexample of the diversity andingenuity included in the display.
