Pesce has asked Mayor Beame to give careful consideration to his proposal for reducing the number of days on which alternate side of the street parking is in effect. In a letter to Beame, Assemblyman Pesce said: %u201cAt present, most streets in our community and throughout the city are covered by this system for four days per week. I would like to suggest that two days per week would suffice.%u201d%u201cMy reason for making this request is a concern for the waste of gasoline which is brought about by the search for parking space when drivers must move their cars,%u201d Pesce explained. %u201cWith the energy crisis upon us and the shortage of agasoline a reality in our city, more and more drivers are trying to leave their cars at home and utilize public transportation. The present parking system allows them to do so only once per week. If the alternate side of the street parking is reduced to two days per week, it will allow more and more drivers to leave their cars at home,%u201d Pesce stated.BELLAMYState Senator Carol Bellamy (D.- Bklyn.) announced that the New York State Senate last week adopted a bill requiring the payment of interest on the funds which banks hold in escrow for payment of real estate taxes, insurance premiums, etc. According to Senator Bellamy, a co-sponsor ofthe bill, the bill is now before the Assembly and if adopted, and signed by the Governor, will become effective Sept. 1, 1974.%u201cEscrow Accounts maintained by banking institutions for the payment of real estate taxes represent a no-cost source of funds for these banks,%u201d according to Senator Bellamy. %u201cMoreover, the fact that services costs on escrow accounts may be higher than on regular savings accounts is no justification for failure to pay even nominal interest.%u201dHeights-South Brooklyn State Senator Carol Bellamy last week described the Executive Budget for 1974-75 as %u201cunrealistic in its revenue estim ates and unacceptable in its proposed expenditures.%u201dAccording to Senator Bellamy: %u201cThis budget cites an eight percent state economy growth rate for fiscal year 1973-74 but projects a mere 4.5 percent increase in revenues over the previous year.RICHMONDCity Councilman Fred Richmond (D Brooklyn) has called on the Public Service Commission to postpone any consideration of a proposed 22.6 percent rate increase for Con Ed until after a City Council investigation into the public utility%u2019s productivity.Richmond, who last week reintroduced a resolution into the City Council for a complete probe of Con Ed, said, %u201cThe governDAY <>K NIGHT IXIOK TO IXIOK SERVICEH eights Car & Lim o u sin e Service Inc.L o ca l a n d L o n g D is ta n c e CallsZone Flat RatesOl%u2019KN 24 HOIKS TEL. 522-7222%u2022ui i : i*tuFT? iittr kt*9:U U A IN U M fL c m t ClCVfflNG Off- IH fc 3 0 $,4C'S,50S217 Garfield Race (off 7^ Avenue) 783~5436Antique design flp iiii||p iiii iiiMW y^nsWfestem&J dresses, wrgps, suite K w r- H Hawaian Shirts, furs, velvets.
