Feb. 18, Officer John Spano, cruising in a radio car, arrested three men forrobbery who were in the process of holding up a man in the street at Court and Hamilton Sts.84th PrecinctCommunity Relations Officer Edward Murphy of the 84th Precinct reports that P.O. John Daily and P.O. Lawrence Cline last w'eek arrested a man for the robbery and attampted rape of a young woman from Cadman Plaza on Pierrepont and Henry Sts. after he had fled from the scene when his victim screamed for help and her father appeared.P.O. Creig Fleetham of the uniformed force made an arrest for gasoline siphoning on Vine St. in Brooklyn Heights during the week.Anti-Crime officers Tom Kelly and Robert McMahon arrested a man on Columbia Heights and Pineapple St. for robbery with a gun, while P.O. William Minchnerand P.O. Anthony Lombardo, also of the Anti-Crime sauad. arrested a suspect for the same offense on Willoughby St.78th Precinct78th Precinct Community Relations Officer Arthur Crehan reported that on Feb. 12 at 10:30 A.M. Officer Perez of the 78th AntiCrime unit arrested Anthony Dunaway of Long Island City and Stephanie Ferlite of South Brooklyn for attempted murder, robbery, wreckless endangerment, possession of a hypodermic and controlled substances.Officer Perez aprehended the two after allegedly breaking into a complaintant's home on 4th Avenue and stealing $20. Dunaway allegedly pointed a rifle at the arresting officer and attempted to fire the weapon. Apparently, the hammerhead hit the cartrige, but the weapon misfired twice. The suspects were then apprehended and brought into custody.Crime ISPunishmentDedicateH instituteSt. Francis College, Remsen St., dedicated its Local History Institute in honor of the late Brooklyn Historian James A. Kelly, at ceremonies to be held at the College, Feb. 14, with Mrs. Dorothea Kelly, widow of Mr. Kelly and Brother Donald Sullivan, O.S.F., president of St. Francis College, presiding. More than fifty Civic Officials, Clergy and Members of the New York City BiCentennial Committee attended the ceremonies.Part of the program included a multi-media display on the history of Coney Island from 1654 to the present. A film was also shown made in 1916, of Kelly, discovering the remains of the Dutch ship Tiger (C1613) while working on the construction of the IRT subway at Greenwich and Dey Streets in Manhattan.Some of the items from the Institute%u2019s collection include: the original charter establishing the Town of Bushwick in 1660, signedby Peter Stuyvesant and the charter establishing the Town of Gravesend in 1645 for Lady Deborah Moody. This charter was the first document to grant complete freedom of religion. Kelly, who established the Local History Institute at St. Francis in 1956, wa%u2019s Brooklyn Borough Historian from 1943 until his death in 1971.Heights MenSing in NYBeethoven%u2019s \is the presentation of the New York Choral Society, with guest conductor, Robert Wagner, set lor Sunday.
