Officer Rattigan made an arrest of a man at 260 Pacific Street for felony assault and resisting arrest and possession of a dangerous weapon on March 31. The same day, Officer Panzella arrested two at Hamilton Ave. and Van Brunt St. for car theft. Detective Kennan arrested a man for assault at J.H.S. 142. On the 14th, Officer Charkowick made an arrest for petty larceny and resisting arrest.On March 15, Officer Colgan arrested two males at 244 Bond Street for harrasment and resisting arrest. The same day Detective Toluchowicz arrested three males for criminal possession of stolen property. Also on the 15th, Detective Ciavarella arrested two for harrasment at a gas station at Smith and 9th Sts. On March 16th, Anti-Crime Officer Toti arrested three at 150 Smith St. for possession of stolen goods and narcotics.With spring-sparked abandon, 78th Precinct Community Council President Stan Mongin has announced that the final two monthly meetings of his current elected year will be fraught with change.First, the meeting place will be changed from St. Augustine%u2019s to the Dean Street Baptist Church located in another quarter of the 78th Precinct domain%u2014 that's at 515 Dean Street (which is opposite the Dean Street Park and between Sixth and Carlton Avenues). Secondly, these sessions will be given a warm opening via hot coffee, free for the asking. All are welcome.On Tuesday, March 26 at 8 :00 pm, Mongin and Precinct brass will present the Dean Street Park architect, Joe Wertz, as guest speaker. He will describe the changes he has designed for the massive renovation job due to start in the park this summer. On Wednesday March 13th Roberto Rosa was apprehended at a residence on South Portland Street. Rosa, a citizen of Puerto Rico, had escaped twice from jail there. He was arrested in Ft. Greene and returned to Puerto Rico to serve the remainder of his sentence.On Monday, March 18th, Frank Ray, 18 was apprehended on First Street in Park Slope at6:20a.m.He was arrested by Officer Endres and charged with attempted robbery.project, also will be on hand to discuss procedure, time schedule and needed community involvement for this great undertaking. Both men are distinguished professionals in design for parks and recreation with extensive service to Brooklyn and urban planning in their dossiers.In addition to the promise of a new park, Mongin had one more innovation to announce: new telephone numbers for the 78th Precinct: 636-6411 for police business; and 636-6426 for precinct public relationsIn another incident in the precinct area, Park Place residents were drawn to their windows on the evening of March 11th by a great deal of commotion when officers from the 77th Precinct ended a many-block chase of a car which allegedly had left the scene of an accident in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Officers from the 78th participated in the apprehension of four suspects, who were charged with leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest.Pilgrim W orkers Demand InquiryOn March 13, 29 former employees of the now bankrupt Pilgrim Laundry, jammed into the offices of the Brooklyn District Attorney to demand a criminal investigation of their ex-employers and to provide new details concerning the closing of the 80 year old business.Earlier that day, Louise Finney, Democratic District Leader of the 51st AD, leading a group of six Windsor Terrace community leaders, joined representatives of the New York City Economic Development Administration for an on-site inspection of the Pilgrim Laundry factory in an attempt to find how the abandoned facility might be put back to use.The 29 Pilgrim employees, all Brooklyn residents, and the majority with over 40 years of service at Pilgrim, came to the DA%u2019s office at the request of District Leader Finney, who had previously called on D.A. Eugene Gold to investigate the circumstances under which Pilgrim Laundry went out of business last month. 175 workers, some working at wages as low as $85 for a forty hour week, were left jobless by the closing of the laundry on February 1st, and without any compensation.%u201cWe%u2019re Brownstowning Our Graystone%u201d is the byword as the Brooklyn YWCA sets out to raise some $250,000 to renovate its eleven-story building on the corner of Third and Atlantic Avenues John A.
