Tucked away at the back of the bright, popular health food store that has become a familiar face on Montague St. in its four year history is a spanking clean dining room open daily for lunch, dinner and snacks. The white washed brick walls and high polished butcher block tables provide an inviting setting in which to sample the n u tritio u s , picture-book colored dishes offered on GARDEN OF EDEN%u2019S innovative menu. Fresh flowers on each table and the luxuriant greenery hanging from a ceiling trellis do justice to the restaurant's name as does the garden of organic delights that owners Jim Guido and Carl Reale serve up each day.The menu is elaborate, butnot gimmicky and the portions are visually attractive and generous in size. Different specials are featured each day along with regular salad, sandwich and omelette dishes. No meat, poultry or fish are served and only organicallygrown vegetables are used, but the variety and creativity of the menu will attract both nonvegetarians and natural food regulars alike. The sauteed vegetables served goulash style on a bed of noodles is an especially pleasing and filling dish. This steaming mountain of carrots, peppers, onions, bean sprouts and mushrooms generously sprinkled with almonds is sure to win over any meat-andpotato devotee. Equally appealing is the egg and mushroom platter, humbly billed on the menu as a sandwich but actually more a salad piled high on homemade bread and garnished with peppers, carrots, cabbage and the like.SteveJust as partners Jim and Carl found retailing meant stocking shelves and sweeping as well as buying and selling, they've learned in just a short time that restauranteuring is not just managing, but waiting on tables and cooking as well. Although both partners enjoy cooking and do it well, they are fortunate to also have the talents of chef Steve Kasdan in their service. Steve was formerly a chef at the Plaza Hotel where his specialty was fish and sauces. He left the 85 man kitchen of the Plaza to join the less formal, more intimateThe Village Ski Shop, right, inyour neighborhood for great ski gear at prices that cant be beat!Skis: K2, Olin, Dynamic, DynastarBoots: Nordica, Raichle, K2Clothes: Parkas, hats, gloves, etc. 78 Henry Street Open: Daily noon to nine 643-0275ONE-DAY TRIPS START: Sunday, Dec. 16Renovating or redecorating?A lamp or fixture for every taste or style. Now Open Daily Mon-Sat 11-8; Thurs till 9130 MONTAGUE ST.BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. 11201ntaguetreet! _____u u n e u
