And the BrooklynHistorical Society will show how in %u201c100Years of Brooklyn Architecture: 1820-1920,%u201da series of three lectures and three walkingtours to be offered this October.Architectural historian and preservationistAndrew Dolkart will trace the developmentof Brooklyn%u2019s distinctive urban architecturefrom the 1820%u2019s, through the explosive growthof the post-Civil War period, and into the early years of the 20th century.The three evening lectures, on October 2,9and 16, will trace this remarkable growth,utilizing slides to highlight the developmentof both residential and institutional architecture. The walking tours, on three successiveSaturdays, will cover Brooklyn Heights (October 11), Park Slope (October 18), and Flatbush (October 25), following the outwardspread of Brooklyn%u2019s burgeoning populationin the 19th century.The entire series is available only as apackage, at $15 for Society members, $25 fornon-members.
