More than 30 private railroad companies ran more than 100 lines crisscrossing Brooklyn. Here is the opening ceremony in 1908 for the new Long Island Railroad Building, which is now slated for demolition. The event was held on the roof of the Terminal and the background are Hanson Place brownstones.
