The group, a non-profit organization, was created in 1970 to deal with environmental concerns, and has join ed the growing tide of groups supporting solar conversions.On October 4, the Brooklyn Regional of the National Conference of Chrisitns and Jews will present its Fifth Annual Ethnic Awards prizes. The Conference will honor Leon M. Goldstein, president of Kingsborough Community, Edward C. Maxwell, president of Woodville Realty Corporation, Cesar Perales, the Principal Regional Official of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and Rose Ann Scamerdella, an anchorwoman at ABC news.Frank J. Camabuci of Brooklyn Heights has been appointed to Director of Admissions at Grymes Hill campus of Wagner College on Staten Island.Clair Thomas Pearce of Park Slope has been appointed Assistant Commissioner, Special Services for Children, a division of the City%u2019s Human Resources Administration. Pearce recently served as Assistant Attorney-in-charge of the Brooklyn Office of the Legal Aid Society.Leslie Litton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Litton of Brooklyn Heights married Alexander Norman .Hudson, a professional hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins.Barbara Leslie Gerber of Flatbush has been named Executive Director of the Brooklyn College Special Baccalaureate Degree' Program for Adults. Gerber was an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature.Packer Collegiate Institute has begun its academic year with the appointment of Dr. Brian R. Wright as Director of Studies for the School. Wright is a veteran of years of leaching experience at many colleges, including Princeton and St. Johns in Queens. Joining him at Packer are PeggyQuigley Tokeida, new assistant director of Packer%u2019s Lower School, and Elizabeth glatzer and David Wilson, who have been named co-directors of Guidance for Packer%u2019s Middle and Upper Schools.Roger Williams, a Park Slope resident hailing from Bedford-Stuyvesant, has been appointed an assistant Vice-President of the Dime Savings Bank. Williams was previously the executive director of the Dime's Community Relations division, a post he had been named to in late July.Sergeant Jacques Maurice of Fort Greene was presented with an Exceptional Duty Medal on Sept. 13 by the Metropolitan Transit Authority. The Medal is awarded for acts of heroism performed in the line of duty that show a disregard for serious injury or loss of life.Ron Jones, vocational counselor with the Colony House Testing Assessment and Placement unit in Flatbush, which places youths in colleges, the military or the CETA program, has been recognized by the 514th Military Airlift Wing for out st anding achievement. Jones last year placed 17 young men and women with the Air Force Reserve.Three new members have been elected to the Board of Trustees of Methodist Hospital. The three are Joanne S.Woodfin from Park Slope, David R. Breien, who lives in Manhattan, and Keith M. Schappert from Stamford, Connecticut.Rabbi David Glazer has become the new spiritual leader at the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue where, with his father Cantor Abraham Glazer, he will officiate at High Holy Day services.Three Brooklyn High School students have been awarded scholarships to the Polytechnic Institure of New York. The three, Lydia Irvin, Susan Diaz and Armando Rodriguez, jr.,received their grtants from a program designed to insure an increasing minority participation in science and engineering fields. Moran was named to the newly-created post of Community Information Liaison for the Brooklyn Public Library, where she will keep community residents and area politicians up to date on the roles of the Library in the lives of Brooklyn residents. Previously, Moran had been an Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Library, Kenneth Duchac, for eleven years.Professor Ephraim Katchalskl-Katzlr has been named to the Herman F. Mark chair of polymer science at the Polytechnic Institute of New York in downtown Brooklyn, where he will spend the fall lecturing and participating in seminars.
