Chances are you recall Lady Liberty, the statue that once adorned the chariot perched on top of the structure but was blown down several years ago; you may not, however, have known about the innards of the arch, and that%u2019s where the Prospect Park Environmental Center is heading this weekend for its next tour.Heading up to a recessed viewing platform nearby Lady Victory%u2019s chariot runs an interior staircase, which has been closed for a good many years, making the view from the top a rare perspective on the park. From the odd sides and nooks of the arch, the tour will then make off for parts better known within Prospect Park, slanting toward showing off the high points of the design, construction and layout of the urban oasis made by designer Frederick Law Olmsted and his partner, Calvert Vaux. The jaunt will be led by Dr. Albert Fein, a professor of history and urban studies at LIU, with Environmental Center director John Muir and Joseph Bresnan from the Parks Department coming along as surrogate tour guides.The Olmsted%u2019s %u201cProspect Park%u2019%u2019 tour w ill meet1pm on Oct. 20 (rain date Oct. 21) and should lastfor about 2V2 hours.
