Elementary and junior high schoolstudents each get $250 and a plaque. Thisyear%u2019s recipients are Henry Correa fromOur Lady of Peace School, Dawn Labadyand James M.W. O%u2019Connell from St.Augustine-St. Francis Xavier School, andAisha Roberts of Junior High School 51.A panel of community leaders selects thenames from those submitted by the variousschools. In addition to the individual studentwinners, the panel also selected theChildren and Youth Development Servicesto receive $500 and a plaque for its community work.A Good, Full YearAt St. Ann%u2019s SchoolStudents at St. Ann%u2019s had a good year.On May 13, St. Ann%u2019s second annual puppet parade marched along Montague Street,up the Promenade, and along PierrepontStreet to the school building at 129 Pierrepont St. Students manipulated more than ahundred life-size puppets, and a band,formed under the direction of music teacherDora Hast, played drums, bells, pots andpans.The parade was the result of work byRonnie Asbell, who has been teaching kidsAwards to Winners in BAM Poster CompetitionBorough president Howard Golden pays tribute to the winners of the %u201c Magic of BAM %u2019%u2019poster com petition along with Con Edison vice president Warren Colburn and BAM vicepresident for planning and developm ent Karen Brooks Hopkins.
