Marina Set For HookPlans are now underway for the development of a small marina at Pier 41 in Red Hook. The project is being developed by Greg O%u2019Connell, a recreational boater who says the marina will he the only waterfront public access area between the Brooklyn Bridge and 69th Street. The plans include 25 rental slips for small boats between 20 and 40 feet long and a launching ramp.O%u2019Connell is now awaiting final approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City%u2019s Department of Ports and Terminals before construction can begin. The New York State Department of Conservation has already approved the plans. While no official approval was required from Community Board Six, O%u2019Connell gave a presentation to the Board%u2019s Land Use Committee, June 19, and received the applause of the committee%u2019s members. He is reluctant to say how much the construction will cost but says the changes %u201cwill not be major.%u201d %u2014 R.T.Summer Sale At GardenThe Brooklyn Botanic Garden Shop is sponsoring a summer sale stretching from Friday, July 11 through July 18, and all regularly priced items will be marked down 20 percent, says Betsy Kissam of the garden. The shop%u2019s new expanded line of items includes flower presses, brightly colored paper lanterns, jewelry, wind socks, canisters, china, notecards and stationery.
